Patrick that is hilarious. I was wondering for a moment why patrick swayze was following my blog.

I totally repelled today of of the ceiling of our gym, i decided to go first cause I was so scared i figured should get it over with. It was a little sad, people clapped for me when i did it...BUT I DID IT!
And I totally went salsa dancing till 2 in the morning last nite! Thanks grandma for teaching me! It was sooooo much fun and next time i am determined to ask more people to dance because some of the guys where either anti-gringa or just shy. Beautiful dancers!
AND! I am totally going on a weekend adventure to the coast with my Mountain Climbing class!

and i have to essays to write...But who cares when your in ecuador! (yes dad i will do them)

Sickness...school etc

So its been a while...

I got sick last week- BUT IM FINE NOW- no worries! I got to go to an Ecuadorian hospital (great service and great price) I had a very high fever and some fun stomach issues... medication and rest

I have finally attended all of my classes, I enjoy them all. I already have to write an essay, 3 pages, im a little worried. Anyways went on a few adventures, to find the post office and to find a book store down town. Always thrilling, it is beautiful here, lots of sun today. Enjoy the bus rides, fun conversation and surprising halts. Will be adding pictures of my university there, it is quite the manifactured paradise. Which is to say no less beautiful but there are losts of people working hard everyday to keep it close to perfection. There is a hip-hop club starting soon... super excited!

Pues...

Dont have much to add. Went for a very small run today, because of the altitude i didnt run that long. Its really quite amazing. Lots of gingos in my classes because either they are taking spanish classes or they are taking easy ecuador specific classes like me! So i got to school and returned on the bus by myself without getting lost, its pretty simple. Now all i have to do is invite some more wonderful people into my life, i am working on my friend-making energy, but it is very intimidating sometimes (most of the time). Trying to upload fotos i will try to do it tommorow at school becasue this compu is too slowwwwwww!

Visa...School...Phone

dropped my papers off at the municipal today, should be recieving visa soon. Then off to school, took the bus by myself to school and back. I had one class today, Andean Anthropology. I understood about everything! I have one friend, Wilson, Yahoo! Better than none. Had to change a language class to 8 in the morning so now i get to wake up at 6... yahoo...Bought a cell phone too... so my house mom can stop worrying about me getting lost. Super tired...adios

School tommorow

So Yesterday was pretty awesome. margarita made a traditional dish of potato tortillas with fried eggs, a beet salad, lettuce, aji(salsaish), avacado and rice. It was so tasty! Maria Ines(she is the niece of my host parents and only a year younger thab me) and I walked to a plaza and bought me some socks, which was nice. I stick out like a sore thumb here ( by the way this expressi0n doesnt translate well). Gonna go to shool tommorow a bit nervous! Cant believe this is only my 4th day it feels like ive been here forever.

Estoy en Ecuador!

I am here... finally. My plane to Quito couldnt land Wednesday, so we landed in Guayaquil a coastal city and were housed at the Hilton, I got a room all to myself. My bed was HUGE, it was amazing. I did not mind the diversion at all! I got in around 1pm yesterday and i didnt have to do a thing, i was told by Margarita ( my host mom) to sleep and rest. I live with Maragrita and Marco and their niece Maria Ines, they are all very nice. Margarita and Marco are retired and have a lot of time to teach me how to absolutly everything, i feel a bit like a 4 year old. I went to class today, i only have one on Fridays it was Montain climbing. My uncle Scot will be very glad to know that i learned how to tie three different knots today! I understood most everything but it is still difficult for me to find the words and structures to use, so I end up saying " que bueno" and "gracias" a lot.

The food is very good, a lot of very tasty soup, lots of freash veggies and fruta, I will not starve! It s warm here, nobody thinks it is, but to me it is. It is a bit humid even here in Quito. I like being outside but i dont know of place to go or how to get thier so for now Marco has been showing me how to get everywhere (thank god).

Tommorow Ingrid is going to come over, she was Marco and Margaritas previous student and now she lives in an apartemento, we had a class at PSU together last Spring term! I guess she dances salsa a lot, so i am going to ask her if maybe she wouldnt mind bringing me along! We are also going to go to the mall i guess, I sorta forgot to bring socks ( i have 4 pairs!) Oops!

Aeropuerto

Arrived in Houston this morning (5:30) :) Found a cozy section of sunny (two hours later here) carpet and promptly passed out. My flight to Quito leaves at 4, so i have a bit of time to rest and catch up and realize Im leaving the country for 4 1/2 months... Its been fun lots of tired small children being cute and keeping me entertained. Little bouts of yoga and push ups, trying to keep up with the airplane ride/sleeping on the terminal ground stiffness.

Since i am Houston lots of people are speaking Spanish... soon it will be everyone...ah! Will be arriving in Quito 10:15 local time so like 7ish/8ish here im still not quite sure about the time difference.

I should be on a plane to Quito Ecuador at this very moment however last nite had to cancel my flight to Quito because UPS has failed to deliver  my package. The package: my passport and visa. I have been speaking to customer service for a week about delivering my package, i was told 3 times yesterday morning that it was on a truck in Portland to be delivered and found out at 5:30pm that it actually could not be found on any truck in portland. It was still in Seattle. So, time sensitive send it FedEx.

I will hopefully be leaving Tuesday, if i receive my package...
